CFO Stack is an open-source, AI-powered finance operations system designed for individuals, freelancers, and small businesses. Inspired by Garry Tan's gstack, it applies the same software factory philosophy to accounting instead of engineering. Built on the Beancount platform, it uses plain-text accounting principles to create a system that is easy to inspect, diff, version, and audit. The tool operates through AI agents via Claude Code slash commands, implementing the C.L.E.A.R. framework to provide virtual roles including Bookkeeper, Controller, Tax Strategist, Auditor, and CFO. Users gain access to skills for transaction capture, classification, reconciliation, tax planning, and reporting. A key feature is the generation of deterministic browser dashboards using bean-query, ensuring reports remain accurate without relying on large language models at runtime. The system utilizes double-entry bookkeeping, where every transaction affects at least two accounts to maintain balance between assets, liabilities, a
