CarteTopo
CarteTopo is a tutorial project that guides users through creating IGN-style topographic maps using QGIS 3 and open or free data sources. It covers the full process of assembling a topographic map by integrating multiple datasets: BD TOPO hydrography and Sandre labels for water features, Etalab cadastre data for buildings, Geofla/AdminExpress and OSM extracts for administrative boundaries, the EU-DEM from Copernicus for relief, and CESBIO land cover vectors. Users learn to download and combine DEMs, hillshades, hydrography, buildings, roads, and land cover, then style and label everything to produce a professional-looking map. The tutorial includes tips on projection choices, reprojecting web basemaps, using Overpass Turbo or QuickOSM for OpenStreetMap data, and selecting appropriate condensed fonts such as Formata. The project is aimed at GIS users comfortable with QGIS who want to reproduce high-quality French topographic cartography without paid IGN data. Outputs typically focus on specific French regions
