The Hitchhikers Guide to DFIR: Experiences From Beginners and Experts is a crowdsourced digital forensics and incident response book designed to lower barriers for community contribution while providing authors with a published chapter and an ISBN for their resumes. Written, edited, and published collaboratively through GitHub and Leanpub, this project serves as a proof of concept for transparent, decentralized knowledge sharing within the DFIR space. The book features multiple co-authors ranging from beginners to experts and has been freely accessible since version 1.0 launched in August 2022. Available in PDF and ePub formats with corresponding ISBNs, the publication excludes MOBI support following changes in platform guidelines. All writing and editing processes remain fully open to public view via milestone tracking. Proceeds from book sales are donated to supported causes, specifically the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, allowing readers to access expert insights while supporting a ch
